Pre Conference Tour - 26th April to 5th May

 

Itinerary

Day 1: Sunday 26th April
WELLINGTON

12.45 pm guests to meet their tour guide and driver in the lobby of CityLife Hotel.

1.00 pm to 4.00 pm guided city sightseeing tour including city centre, Wellington Cable Car, summit of Mount Victoria and a 1 hour guided highlights tour of Te Papa Museum of New Zealand.   Guests will have free time to explore Te Papa Museum of New Zealand at the conclusion of the guided tour of the museum.

Dinner this evening will be hosted by members of the New Zealand Association of Women Judges. Return transport to dinner is provided.

Overnight: CityLife Hotel, Wellington.

Meal included today is dinner.


Day 2: Monday 27th April 
WELLINGTON

Free day to explore Wellington. (Guests to pay directly for any activities. Tour guide will have suggestions for local activities)

Overnight: CityLife Hotel, Wellington.

Meals included today are breakfast and dinner.


Day 3: Tuesday 28th April
WELLINGTON TO PICTON TO BLENHEIM

Free morning to explore Wellington (Guests to pay directly for any activities. Ideas include visit Wellington Museum, 1 hour guided free of charge tour of parliament buildings, Seal Coast Safari tour 9.30 am to 12.30 pm)

1.45 pm guests to meet tour guide and driver in the lobby of the CityLife Hotel and be transferred to the ferry terminal.

2.45 pm to 5.55 pm ferry from Wellington to Picton.

On arrival in Picton guests and tour guide will be transferred to their accommodation in Blenheim.

Overnight: Chateau Marlborough Hotel, Blenheim.

Meal included today is breakfast.


Day 4: Wednesday 29th April
BLENHEIM TO CHRISTCHURCH

Wine tasting at a winery before travelling south to Christchurch.     About 4 1/2 hours driving time.

Overnight: Rydges Latimer Hotel, Christchurch.

Meal included today is breakfast.


Day 5: Thursday 30th April
CHRISTCHURCH

This morning a guided 1 hour guided tour of Christchurch botanic gardens followed by free time to explore Christchurch (Ideas include, visit Canterbury Museum, punting on the Avon River, visit Christchurch Art Gallery, visit the Arts Centre, visit the transitional cathedral, visit New Regent Street, visit the Christchurch Courthouse etc.)

Group dinner tonight.

Overnight: Rydges Latimer Hotel, Christchurch.

Meals included today are breakfast and dinner.


Day 6: Friday 1st May
CHRISTCHURCH TO AORAKI / MOUNT COOK

This morning depart Christchurch bound for Aoraki / Mount Cook.   About 4 1/4 hours driving time.     Stop en-route at country town of Geraldine, Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo etc.

Group dinner tonight.

Overnight: Hermitage Hotel, Aoraki / Mount Cook.

Meals included today are breakfast and dinner.


Day 7: Saturday 2nd May
AORAKI / MOUNT COOK

Free day to explore this stunning alpine area (Guests to pay directly for any activities. Ideas include Glacier Explorer trip, Tasman Valley 4WD tour, Hooker Valley hike, Ed Hillary Alpine Centre and cinema, Department of Conservation interpretative centre, great photo opportunities etc.)

Overnight: Hermitage Hotel, Aoraki / Mount Cook.

Meal included today is breakfast.


Day 8: Sunday 3rd May
AORAKI / MOUNT COOK TO QUEENSTOWN

This morning depart Aoraki / Mount Cook bound for Queenstown.   About 3 1/2 hours driving time.   Stop en-route at Lindis Pass lookout, Tarras and historic town of Arrowtown.     On arrival in Queenstown a guided orientation walk around downtown Queenstown.

Overnight: Scenic Suites Hotel, Queenstown.

Meal included today is breakfast.

Day 9: Monday 4th May
QUEENSTOWN TO DOUBTFUL SOUND TO QUEENSTOWN

Full day tour from about 8.00 am to about 8.15 pm including a 3 hour cruise on Doubtful Sound.

Overnight: Scenic Suites Hotel, Queenstown.

Meals included today are breakfast and picnic lunch.


Day 10: Tuesday 5th May
QUEENSTOWN

Guests who are attending the IAWJ Board Meeting in Auckland commencing on Wednesday 6th May to fly from Queenstown to Auckland today.     Transfer from Scenic Suites Hotel to Queenstown airport and flight from Queenstown to Auckland is their own care.

Here are some ideas for guests staying on in the South Island.     All ideas are at the guests own expense.   Your tour guide will be able to assist with bookings and recommendations.

  1. Stay on in Queenstown for 2 nights and fly from Queenstown to Auckland on 7th May.
  2. Hire a car and drive to Dunedin for nights of 5th and 6th of May and then fly from Dunedin to Auckland on 7th May.
  3. Hire a car and drive up the West Coast and stay at Franz Josef before driving to Christchurch and then flying to Auckland on 7th May.
